Overview
Activates GLP-1 receptors in pancreas (glucose-dependent insulin), gut (gastric emptying), and hypothalamus (satiety).
Proposed mechanism
Liraglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist with 97% homology to human GLP-1, stimulating insulin secretion, delaying gastric emptying, and reducing appetite.
What the evidence supports
Human data exists but the trials are small, short-term, or not yet replicated.
Graded Human-limited
Human data that exists but is thin: open-label work, single-arm studies, small cohorts, or observational follow-up without randomisation.
