Overview
Binds to receptors in the hypothalamus and brainstem, reducing stress hormone release and promoting GABAergic activity.
Proposed mechanism
DSIP is a natural nonapeptide that promotes delta wave (deep) sleep by modulating serotonin, GABA, and cortisol pathways in the brain.
What the evidence supports
Most data comes from preclinical animal studies. Human clinical trial evidence is limited or absent.
Graded Animal
Evidence drawn from in vivo animal models or in vitro systems. Mechanistically informative; translation to humans is unproven.
